Black Eyed Peas single ‘I Gotta Feeling’ hits record 6 million mark!
The Black Eyed Peas’ hit single “I Gotta Feeling” has been downloaded at least 6 million times, marking the first time a song has reached that mark in legal digital downloads, it was announced on Good Morning America on Friday, while the hip hop group’s televised performance drew the largest audience for the show’s summer concert series.
“We owe it up to you guys, give it up for you guys, for everybody here,” group member Taboo told a cheering crowd. “These are the people who make it possible for us to do this.”
The song is featured on the Black Eyed Peas’ fifth album The E.N.D, which was released in June 2009. The group, made up of Taboo, will.i.am, apl.de.ap and lead singer Fergie, is working on a new album called “The Beginning.””We were up late last night recording,” group member will.i.am said. “So we’re functioning off of energy, pure energy and excitement.”
In February, iTunes announced “I Gotta Feeling” was its most downloaded song. In second place was Lady Gaga with “Poker Face and the Black Eyed Peas were also No. 3 with “Boom Boom Pow”.
